Euro 2008 - Who will be the winner?

What about predicting the winner of Euro 2008??

Switzerland
Czech Republic

Group A:

Switzerland and Czech Republic will play in quarterfinal. Why??

Switzerland organise Euro 2008 so it will be easier for players when their
fans will support them all the time. Referees sometimes help organizers...:tongue:

Czech Republic - they always play very well in Euro since 1996 (except
Euro 2000:biggrin:)

Portugal - They didn't play well in qualifications. They had lots of problems when they played against Poland, Finland and Serbia. It will be hard for them to play in quarterfinal.

Turkey - They won't play anything special. They might loose all their games
(The same situation was in Euro 96, Tukey lost all 3 games and didn't score any goal).

Group B:

Germany and Poland. Why??

Germany - they really want to win! The last game Germany won in Euro was
final of Euro 96. I'm sure that they will play in quarterfinal.

Poland - Good players and one of the best coaches - Leo Beenhakker.
Quarterfinal will be a big success for Polish.:smile:

Croatia - without their best player - Eduardo Da Silva - it won't be easy for them to achieve their dreams:frown:

Austria - no comment...

Group C:

Holland - Van Nistelrooy, Van Persie, Van der Vaart, Sneijder... Do I really
have to say something more?

Italy - The winners of wc 06. It's proper for them to play at least in semifinal!

France - Thierry Henry and Franck Ribery are not enough to achieve the success. Maybe Karim Benzema will help them...???

Romania - They didn't have a luck while draw the groups of Euro 2008.
I hope the fate will kind to Romania.

Group D:

Greece - I don't really think that they will win Euro 2008, but they should play in quarterfinal.

Spain - they play magical football. They can even play even in final:coool:

Sweden - they always had lots of luck while group matches, but I think
they will play only 3 matches in Euro 2008.

Russia won't play an important role in Euro 2008.

That's my opinion, I haven't decided who will be the winner yet.
I'm quite confused:confused:

I think that Spain and Italy are two strong teams to the win, but I will keep Italy I like them.. Italy win! :coool:

Just an interpretation:

Group A.- Portugal & Switzerland
you did say that the swiss have the local adventage, but i think that Portugal had a better team than the czech rep.
i think that the czech golden age of the czech in Euro was from 96 to 2004, but no more, no without Nedved.


Group B.- Austria & Germany
i think that austria's locality will be factor over the Polish team (good players and coach at the qualifying games but big deception at the important games (WC 2002 & 2006)

Group C.- Holland & Italy
i don´t like the italian style but i don't see an enough strong french team (like in the last world cup, but they don't have any Zizu this time)

Group D.- Spain & Sweden
Spain ist the best team in the gropu, i think that Greece will play like the last Euro, i hope that they ´ll not have the same luck, so i prefer the swedes.

quarter finals
Schweiz, Portugal, Austria, Germany = a local hero (good for the bussines) + Germany
Holland, Italy, Spain & Sweden = Italy + Spain (at least)

Semifinal
local hero, Germany, Italy, Spain = Germany + Italy
(good enough for a local team and Spain "falta un poquito" like always?)

Final
Germay vs Italy = the revenge?

they did well previouse euro but greece get them out

germany since euro 1996 didn't play any good match in euro 2000 or 2004

specially euro 2000 was disaster with RIBBECK Erich

France got the rage inside them beacause of what happened in the world cup....they got 2 young guns who are gone to leave their mark in the euro: nasri and benzema...be on the lookout for benzema...he's a complete striker....it will be interesting to see how domenech will use him....i would love to see him alongside titi henry...i would be magic....AH! don't forget Scarface who is having his run in the bundesliga...:biggrin:

If holland or spain can finally play to their potential then they'll win it... but everyone knows they won't so i'm gonna have to go for germany :eeok:

As you see it's not easy to predict the winner, but there are the teams which have a big chance to play in final. Maybe we will see another "suprise" in this tournament. Who said 4 years ago that Greece will win? (My brother said that, but he used to like Greece so he wasn't objective:P)

I dunno if, even with Capello, England would be a major Euro contender had they made it. I gather from a lot of my fellow England supports that I'm not alone in my support of Spain. Spain, like England, always looks promising, and never delivers. Spanish fans share our plight :)

Off course I'm hoping that the Netherlands will win the tournament but I think that's not very likely. I would go for Germany or Italy to win the championship. :rolleyes:

The team I'd least like to see winning the Euros this year is Italy. I don't like their style of football and I really think they didn't deserve to win the World Cup a couple years ago.

Having thought of the possible combinations, it seems to me that the team most likely to win this year's Euro is Germany. However, remember how certain we all were that Brazil would win the World Cup 2 years ago. Impossible is nothing.
